The ARQtainer Liray is a house made with shipping containers resistant to the earthquakes in Chile

Five steel shipping containers painted in a bright yellow colour are coverted into a earthquake proof house on the outskirts of Santiago de Chile. The house, designed by ARQtainer, was developed as an earthquake resistant house and low cost which could be built on a very short time. For the architects, the shipping containers are an ideal building material because of its strength, durability, stackability, modular system and wide availability. The surface of the house is a little over the 3.875 Ft2, the house has thermal glass windows, plaster was used as the internal coating for the walls and all the insulation is made of projected cellulose. Also the location is great, you can see the beautiful views of the Andes Mountains from the terrace and the shared spaces, so the nature is one more special component of the shipping container home.
