The artist and designer Julio Garcia recently has built a home with a shipping container in Savannah, Georgia. is a house made of two 40 feet sea containers , separated one from the other and covered with a metal plate obtained from one of sides of a container. This design is definitely inspired by this house located in Costa Rica . The house has one bedroom and bathroom.
The house is about 75m2 (800 ft2 ) and is about a retirement home when the artist is not in Brooklyn. Thanks to the separation between the 2 containers, an upper window has been created to give a great lighting to the kitchen and the living room of the house. The foundations of the house has been made with concrete pillars.
The entire floor of the house is made of wood, and the container doors can be opened as they were originally. The interiors are all white to enhance the brightness of the home. The kitchen is extended along one of the the container sides and the small bathroom is located next to it, after the bath we find the only room of the house, however another room could be created just at the opposite site.
