The Israeli architectural firm ” yoav messer architects ” just has shared these spectacular images of a new working project, this time is not about shipping container homes, it’s a full bridge made entirely with the shipping containers, the bridge ECOntainer (note the pun) which will soon be under construction. The project is located in the ariel sharon park , a protected natural park , conceived with the idea to promote sustainability and environmental ecology . The bridge respects these ideas reusing the shipping containers for its construction, the build of the modular parts takes place in a workshop and then they are linked to the pillars from side to side on the bridge. It’s true that the idea of the reuse of the shipping containers is very positive facing the ideas of sustainability and ecology that define the park, however it’s noteworthy that the environmental impact produced by the bridge is considerable, despite of how necessary it is for the mobility of its residents.
The rehabilitation of the containers used as connectors on the bridge is relatively easy to do, and its subsequent connection is also very easy to do, also minimizes the impact and inconvenience of the construction in site . A new steel frame is made within the structure of metal boxes , plus 2 platforms to see the panoramic views of the park. The bridge will allow pedestrian and bicycle traffic to encourage their use, all perfectly lit.
The modular features of the shipping containers make them ideal for repairing and replacing any part. The natural proportions can be used to create certain visual routes, incorporating visual panels to constantly inform the passers with presentations, new projects and specific information as if it was a museum.
