We all remember the disaster at Christchurh in New Zealand. An earthquake take over 162 lives and destroyed a big part of the city, and with it many of its facilities .
The container architecture has the great virtue of having a very fast construction process , and if something is in need urgently is the town of Christchurch, in need of a shopping center that could provide utilities and services to the community. Well joining this great virtue and this big need the idea of creating a mall made with shipping containers was born, an idea that for sure is going to be successful because of these 2 concepts.
The project ReStart is composed of a total of 27 stores, all created with some very colorful shipping containers, also this project was built in just a few months .
Thousands of users attended the opening of this temporary mall for a do a walk, do some shopping , or just have a coffee… so the idea was instantly a success!
Although thsi porject was done only in a few months, its design is quite interesting, it includes several gathering areas for its users. In theory this mall will remain open only for a year, until the main pedestrian shopping avenue and all its shops will be again active .
If you ‘ve liked this shopping center I recommend you to take a look to this documentary :
